How a toddler schooled me in SURRENDER

I’ve been observing my son and his CTRL-ALT-DELETE siesta system shut-down for a few weeks now.

After a 3 block walk home from playschool at noon, he gobbles down a hot lunch and then stumbles straight up to a sunny spot where he crashes for 2 hours.

He never looks across at his PlayDoh, nor does he squeeze in a quick trip to the fridge before he allows his body to melt. He never turns on the TV in case he misses a scene of Paw Patrol nor does he apologise in advance for being unavailable for the next few hours.

The dude simply surrenders to what his body needs most and in doing so, allows all systems in his temple to reboot. Routinely, of course, but most beautifully all the same.

I must tell you, today I am so very thankful for the lesson in self-care.  The tutorial in surrender is something I need very much indeed….

And the GRATITUDE that floods my veins is most delicious!

YOU are Enough

…The time surely comes

When you put yourself first

When you regain your God essence

When you count your blessings

When you honour your sadness

When you give yourself permission to try

When you name your pain

When you stop calling your passion a “hobby”

When you keep your word

When you kick someone out of your emotional bed

When you alienate nasty creatures

When you write thank you notes

When you take more risks

When you stop trusting losers

When you approach people you need

When you say no to darkness

When you yield appropriately

When you say beautiful words of gratitude instinctively

When you sleep for days

When you trust your internal red flags

When you disappoint another heart

When you run your race and let others run theirs

When you clear everything on your vision board and start again

When you no longer mind being called emotional

When you equate self respect with breathing

When you allow yourself to dream again

When you listen to a child

When you let yourself be touched

When you honour your calling

When you travel to places that call you

When you risk humiliation

When you press “reset” on your life

When you accept the shape of the parts you disguise

When you simply say “not today”

When you acknowledge those that guide you

When you start imitating yourself

When you draw a line in the sand

When you empower other people

When you forgive yourself

When you delight in the success of others

When you laugh loud

When you kiss your broken heart

When you are your own role model

When you emulate the speckles of light you see

When you tone down the noise

When you soothe your heart with music

When you dine alone

When you share your struggles

When you own your fears

When you unlearn your defences

…and on that day, may you know that YOU are enough YOU have always been enough YOU will always be enough End of story!

I Fall Short Of My Own Expectations Daily

images

I fall short of my own expectations daily

They say that to whom much is given, much is expected.

I have certainly been given much.  Straight from the creator of MUCH.

But, what others expect from me is nothing compared to what I expect from myself.

And naturally, I fall short of my own expectations daily!

Now, I know that people will tell you that you need to “give yourself a break” and that you need to “be kind to yourself”. I get that.  I practice that.

My problem is slightly more complicated than that.

I am receiving blessings every hour of every day. Doors open hourly.  Hearts come to my heart as and when I need them.  Just like that! I am one of THOSE people. Magic happens in my space.  Every single day.

So, I sit with this pot full of good.  And, it overflows.

And, I want to share it. Share myself.  Not in a My 12 Steps to Happiness way. God no!  Imagine THAT disaster.

In sharing myself, I always wonder if I am doing authentically.  I always ask myself if my :

Head

Heart

Soul

Body

Are speaking the same language. All at once. All in sync.

Because, until they ALL do.  I fail myself.

And that, I do daily.

So, on YOUR journey, I wish you a head that likes you, a heart that melts when it feels another heart’s cry, a soul that will remember you from wayyyyy before (and like you) and a body that is a reflection of the perfect alignment.

Aluta Continua Friends!  The road is long (for me).
